nature pure scotland: 3 to 4 day escape

Heard about the stunning hills, glens and nature of Scotland but time pressured? We have just the very tour for you below - carefully curated for those with limited time and we’re well under an hour from Edinburgh or Glasgow.

You’ll experience an immersion into Scotland’s heritage and wildlife and just be in touch if you’d like to delve a little deeper into any aspect and we can tailor it to your interests - previous guests have requested bat safaris, bug vaccing to name a few wishes.

Day 1 eg Thursday

  1. Arrival: to Brucefield Estate (by bicycle, car, train). Any guests arriving by public transport will receive a complementary no-dig tree planting session - can be done at any time over the next couple of days.

  2. Dine like a local and experience vibrant colour and taste with Anna’s carefully curated menu at The Aviary in the pretty village of Dollar (15 mins away)

  3. Evening: Dusk? Perfect timing for a bat safari. Our Land Officer will talk you through how to use a bat detector and you’ll uncover the various species of bat around the differing habitats of the estate. Ask all your questions about how these creatures navigate and what they eat on this bespoke tour.

 Day 2

  1. Morning: wake up to your very own tailored yoga session in your accommodation. Before your visit, Jemma of The Yoga Hut Fife will have created a bespoke session for you based on your requirements.

  2. Afternoon: now feeling fully refreshed, breathe in the scent of Norway spruce pine needles, roll your hand over sumptuous mosses on your bespoke guided History & Wildlife Tour. You’ll discover bird song, fungi and 300-yr old trees deep in the forest and try out no-dig tree planting or bug vaccing (yes that’s right!). These tours vary according to the season but always something different to experience.

  3. Evening: sample the delicacies brought to you by private chef Douglas McNair. In a box all freshly prepared freshest fish (or alternative), sliced vegetables, herbs, and sauces for you to cook under the stars on your firepit. Dine like a knight in the forest - secure in the knowledge that Dougie hunts his ingredients only from a 15-mile radius of the estate.

 Day 3

  1. Morning: Take our TREK all-terrain bicycles into the forest on an 18km loop along traffic-free gravel tracks amongst tall Scots Pines and luscious forest of Devilla Forest. Cycle direct from your accomodation and other loops also available eg including around Gartmorn Dam.

  2. Or, take a walk around Scotland’s best example of a 17th/16th century royal burgh town in Culross. Crow-stepped gables, cobble-stoned streets and often used as a filmset location this village and its fine Palace are not to be missed.

  3. Afternoon: the magic of the forest awaits you with a personalised Birch Disc Trail hung with red ribbons, with the discs for you to collect as you find your way to a flaming firepit and picnic hamper from Polly's Pantry in the woodlands.

Whether it’s to pop the big question, or simply dine outdoors this will be an evening you won’t forget - and the birch discs will be your keepsake.

And we’re very happy to discuss other wildlife options with you - we’ve plenty to explore - see our Wildlife section.
